RitualsDarkness covered the whole field of view. This black field stretching out on the ground and sky.Trapped between these large sheets without a single impulse reaching my brainAfter such a long time in this void, you start to crave for the smallest sensation that could revive one of your senses. And on one moment it finally was granted to me.I could feel uneasiness as I sat there, swelling up within me like a balloon on the verge of popping. I sensed coldness.Turning my gaze around, I looked up into two red orbs peering down on me.It was hard to distinguish a figure or shape in the black void, but it wasn’t due to the darkness. The figure simply didn’t know light.Being alone for so long I wasn’t sure whether to be frightened about it, or to be glad that there was someone in my presence. He reached out for me, for all I could see.But He started to get more and more of a contour the longer I looked. He asked me to get up and play. To dance with him.His voice was sm
The Song of the AncientsOur ancient tongues unfurl a rhymeThrough streets and cities thick with grimeWe sing a song as old as timeListen, and beware! For we have sworn a solemn vowTo bequeath this unto thouWe trust in thee to listen nowAnd hear our long-lost taleWe roved upon a virgin earthJust seconds after its new birthWe shared in all the new world's mirthFor eras upon eonsOur cities grew, we moved and spreadacross the earth we lived and bredaware not of the growing dreadAt peace we lived our livesThen, when we had reached our peakBelow the earth, a Voice did speakA rumbling roar, a startling shriekThe beginning of the endThe Voice, it spoke to all as oneCondemning us, for what we'd doneFor too advanced had we becomeAnd then the sky grew darkWe crumbled into ancient dustWith all our cities left to rustThe Voice, it laughed as we were justWiped out as one would verminBut our souls have since watched onWe've watched you grow, you'll soon be gonePrepare yourself for your last dawn
Meant to BeWhen it comes to life the only thing that is ever meant to be is the freedom to decide what is going to be.
Dream Sequence: Messages from the Hidden WorldWake upAt first the blip was small and the noise that accompanied the message was unnoticeable. My mind was still fuzzy and my five senses were dead. But I did not care. My body wanted to stay like this because I was tired. It was too tired from all the things that happened this past month.Wake upThe message displayed again on my computer with an audible pinging sound. The noise echoed in my headset. I quickly got up and stared at the screen. My background and programs were not present. Only a black screen with a blinking text cursor, like the command prompt I use so often in class.Since when do silhouettes sleep? The text cursor typed by itself.I ignored the attempt at making fun of my name. I turned my computer off before going to sleep, and yet here it was flashing messages. Is the person on the other end a hacker? Maybe that’s how he or she was able to talk to me through the command prompt. I quickly grabbed the keyboard and responded.Get off
Now, and later - CHAPTER 1War was definitely coming, there was no doubt now. After we saw their ships patrolling our coastline, we were sure that they were planning something dangerous. It was not that long ago that I had seen them with little Katie. We had been there, watching the ships, since we had time on our hands. Father was out again, and so I and she went to the beach. It wasn’t splendid beaches like back at the homelands of the Byruen Empire. The beach was covered with rounded stones, of all colors. Morien was a colder place up north, although we did here the stories of how awfully hot it got down south. Like father always is saying now, we are in the middle of something bad, literally, trapped between two empires ready to fight.Anyway, it was just me and her for the moment. I was just lying there, thinking, and looking up at the bright, but brisk sky, with thin clouds drifting high up. Katie was tossing stones, and I could hear each ‘plink’ of the stones hitting the cle
RejectedDisclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds.The seawater is cold on Bruno's ankles, and the crab is dangerously close; pinchers waving dangerously. He curls his toes away from the creature and smiles up at the sunlight. It was a beautiful day for the beach."Why do we have to bring him everywhere we go?" Doesn't he have his own home?" Jack complains loudly.Bruno's smile is robbed from his face."He's our friend, and he's staying with us." Yusei's voice leaves no room for argument."Yours maybe," Jack mutters. The king strides away from the water. Bruno knows he would never lower himself to getting wet. Bruno watched as Yusei turns his back to walk over towards him. He waits."He'll get used to you. They all will."Bruno was tired of getting rejected.
Fantasy literature contest entryLet me tell you a tale without that letter. . . . You know the one. I cannot even utter it for fear that . . . that time will end . . . that the moon will fall from above . . . that all of the light will go out of the world. Of that and more I fear with a greater terror, a greater dread, than anything I have ever known. Let me tell you the tale of an abandoned child, a boy only a day old left alone in a dark and dirty alley in a forgotten corner of the town of Olymbol, not far from the main market. The poor babe cried in fear until he had no breath left to him, but the mother who had left him walked away without once looking back. An old man heard the cry from the door of the apothecary nearby. The venerable wizard, on a mere errand to buy more wartweed and burdock that grew high on the Golden Mountain, followed the cry into the alley. He took pity on the boy lying in the garbage, for he had no family, neither wife nor child. "Now," he wond
Raiding the Mountains of Madness (pt 1 of 3)I crept up to the edge of the icy outcrop, crawling on my elbows and dragging my belly through the white powder like a soldier in an old war movie. Five layers of insulated arctic clothing weren't nearly enough to keep me from regretting getting down on the ground, but one does not simply walk onto the plateau occasionally known as Leng (when Leng's not in Toyland Dreamscape or wherever, I sort of skim over the details on these things). Right then it was definitely the ice-blasted Antarctic Leng, though, and my fear of freezing to death wasn't nearly strong enough to override my fear of being caught by the creature I was supposed to be trailing.I slowly peeked over the ledge of my inadequate cover and scanned the surrounding flatlands. Satellite imagery left a blind spot right around here, probably thanks to one of the seventeen super-secret pan-national panic treaties that Dr. M tried to have me memorize, and Lance had sworn on his honor (quote words) that this was where the trail ha
