Good morning, afternoon, and evening Beyond-The-Art writers.

I'm here to let you all know that soon we will be having a mini literature contest. We want to recognize the dedicated and skillful writers here at BTA.  I'm hoping to do/start this at the end of this month (January 30th) at the latest.

  Before I make everything final I want to see what you, the participants, think and what your opinions are on how this goes.


  *RULES*
1: Participants must be a member of BTA
2: The piece of literature must be related to the theme or topic chosen for the contest
3: losers- don't be mean to winners  winners-don't be mean to losers
4: The submitted piece must be some form of written literature.
5: No plagiarizing


  *PRIZES*
~prizes may vary due to the amount of participants~

The top 10 will have their piece featured.
All participants will be mentioned in the journal that announces the winners

Points awarded:  If there is no more than 20 participants the points will be awarded accordingly
  1st: 750 :points:
  2nd: 600 :points:
  3rd: 300 :points:
  4rth: 250 :points:
  5th: 100 :points:

Points Awarded: If there are 21 or more participants the points will be awarded accordingly
  1st: 500 :points:
  2nd: 400 :points:
  3rd: 300 :points:
  4rth: 200 :points:
  5th: 100 :points:
      3 participants selected at random will receive 100 :points: each regardless of their placing.


Next: Theme???
  Comment below what you think a good theme, topic, or challenge would be for the contest.
Once a few ideas are up we will have a poll to decide which to use.

  Voting will take place in the polls as usual.

I think this is a great idea! Some of the comments talk about SciFi as a theme, but it should be remembered that SciFi is a genre, not a theme; there's no reason that a theme like 'a tragic heartbreak' couldn't be written as a noire, scifi, mystery or a fantasy piece.
